About the Manufacturing Advocacy & Growth Network (MAGNET)
Founded in 1984, the Manufacturing Advocacy & Growth Network (MAGNET) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping manufacturers compete and grow under the leadership of a board of directors who reflect the breadth of manufacturing in the region.

MAGNET provides consulting services aimed at helping companies achieve bottom-line efficiencies through increased productivity and process improvement programs while improving top-line sales through a variety of new product development and growth strategies.

During the period 2008 to 2012, MAGNET undertook 752 projects for 459 separate companies. These projects helped those manufacturers achieve the following results:
• $540 million in increased or retained sales
• $79 million in cost savings
• $174 million investment in their operations
• Create or retain 6,264 manufacturing jobs

MAGNET is a provider of Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) services funded by the U.S. Department of Commerce's National Institute of Standards and Technology.

About The Presenter:
Mr. David Crain, Director of Entrepreneurial Services , MAGNET

Mr. Crain is Director, Entrepreneurial Services for Northeast Ohio's Manufacturing Advocacy & Growth Network (MAGNET). In that capacity he works directly with early stage and start-up entities, serving as a coach and mentor to technology start-ups, provides business planning and strategy assistance, connects companies with needed resources, and helps facilitate start-ups through the commercialization pipeline. Prior to joining MAGNET in 2002, Mr. Crain worked for Cap Gemini, an international information technology and services consulting firm. Mr. Crain earned a B.S. degree in Systems Analysis & Design from Miami University.
